On Wednesday morning Swanage Ladies entertained Poole Park in the Edna Paisley League. The rink of Pam Roddick, Connie Palmer and skip Julie Lomas-Smith had a 17 shot lead at the half way stage but Poole Park dug in and fought back, scoring 10 shots on the last 3 ends, not quite enough, Swanage running out 21-18 shots winners.
Lil Bell, Jenny Carter and skip Jean Thomas were only 2 shots adrift after 9 ends but could not get back with a 3 shot loss 13-16. Overall a 34 shot draw and point shared.
Pelhams BC was the destination of the ladies, this Thursday, when they travelled away in the Bournemouth & District Ladies League. Julie Lomas-Smith Linda Wallis and skip Uta Keats played a very close game, after 10 ends the score was 5 all, averaging only 1 shot an end, however, Pelhams scored 3 shots on the 11th and 15th ends to make the difference, finishing with a 5 shot loss, 9-14.
Sue King, Gill Bryceson and skip Judy Smooker had a fine win keeping on top the whole game, winning 28-6 shots. Overall a 37-20 shots win and 4 points gained in the league.
The Bournemouth & District Bowling Association league teams on Saturday, however, had a bad day at the office. In the morning Swanage ‘A’ travelled to New Milton to play in the Mixed Triples League, section 1. We lost on both rinks, 15-24 and 14-17 shots, no points today.
In the afternoon Swanage also played away at Argyll BC in the Premiership, section 4. This game had one rink to help save face, it was that of Roger Senior, Graham Smooker and skip Terry Buck who at 10 ends were even steven but raced away to a 21-17 shots win. Our rink of Tim Luscombe, Dave Hogsflesh and skip Brian Beeston were very unlucky as they were 11 shots all after 10 ends, 17 shots all after 17 ends but Argyll took 3 shots to win on the last end. The other 2 rinks lost giving a 59-78 shots overall loss but 2 points gained.
