Swanage Bowling Club regulary hosts touring sides, and welcomes friendly matches
Swanage Bowling Club is a lawn bowls club based in Swanage Town Council’s Beach Gardens, just off the seafront. Beach Gardens is also home to the Swanage Tennis Club and a popular 18 hole grass putting course. There is a shared Pavilion and the Club recently raised funds for a large translucent outdoor canopy to protect spectators from both rain and sun, under which they can enjoy the matches in more comfort. With views across the bay to the Isle of Wight, there is no better place to enjoy a game of bowls in good company!

The Club has played lawn bowls in Swanage since 1928 - and it is an important part of the sports and social activities within the town as well as a tourist attraction for visitors in the summer. There are six rinks, two of which are available to non-members to bring their own bowls or hire equipment from the Council booth.

My wish for the season is that we have a full, uninterrupted season of bowls and social events. I also hope we all enjoy these activities, joining in the social bowling, competitive leagues and competitions run by the club. Our club has always had the reputation of being a friendly, welcoming club – long may this continue! If any of our newer bowlers feel a bit lost and want to know anything (not matrimonial) have a chat with me or any of the club officers. We will hopefully be able to help.

In conclusion my thanks to the club officers and members who give their time and expertise to make the club function. This is making it one of the best clubs with the best green on which to play in Dorset.

My charity this year is Cancer Research – please help when you can.

Have a great season.
