It was a tough season for the men of Swanage Bowls Club in Bowls Dorset Division 1 East.
We lost our first ten games but in all those games managed to pick up at least one point from rink wins and draws and ultimately these points kept us safe from relegation.
Our 1st win didn’t arrive until mid July when we took on fellow strugglers Wimborne A at home. We won that one 8-2 and followed up with our best result of the season at Gillingham (won 8-2). It did not bode well when two of our cars decided to try and avoid the Camp Bestival traffic around Wareham by going via the ferry only to hit long delays there! They eventually arrived slightly late but went on the green and nearly secured a 10-0 win only losing one rink in the last throws.
We finished 2nd from bottom to avoid relegation but we managed to score at least one point in all our games!
Next season we will still have games against Wimborne because their 1st team were relegated from the Premier Division. We will also have to travel to Ferndown who were promoted from division 2.
Here is a the final table.
